Here's a clear walkthrough of every stage.
Step 1: Free Site Assessment and Quote
Everything starts with a conversation. When you reach out to us — whether by phone, WhatsApp, or our contact form — one of our consultants will gather some initial information: your approximate monthly electricity usage (your bill is the most useful reference), what you're hoping to achieve (bill savings, load shedding protection, or both), and your property type.
We then schedule a free site visit at a time that suits you. During this visit, our assessor inspects your roof structure, orientation, and available surface area; examines your existing electrical distribution board; assesses cable routing options; and discusses your goals in person. This is also your chance to ask every question you have — there's no pressure and no obligation.
Within a few days of the site visit, you'll receive a detailed written proposal with itemised pricing, equipment specifications, projected savings, and a system diagram.
Step 2: System Design and Proposal
Once you've accepted the quote, our team draws up a full system design. This includes the precise layout of panels on your roof, the inverter and battery configuration, the electrical schematic, and a calculation of expected energy yields based on your location and roof orientation.
We don't use generic templates — every system is designed specifically for your property and consumption profile. You'll see exactly what you're getting before a single tool is lifted. If you'd like any adjustments to the system size or specification, this is the easiest point to make them.
Step 3: Permits and Approvals
In South Africa, grid-tied and hybrid solar installations require a Certificate of Compliance (COC) and, in many municipalities, a Small-Scale Embedded Generation (SSEG) application for grid interconnection. Our team handles all of this on your behalf.
We prepare and submit the required documentation, liaise with your municipality where necessary, and ensure that every aspect of your installation meets the relevant SANS electrical standards. You won't need to navigate any bureaucracy yourself — we manage the paperwork from start to finish. Approval timelines vary by municipality but typically take 2–4 weeks.
Step 4: Installation Day
Installation day is the most exciting part. Our certified installation team arrives at the agreed time with all equipment. A typical residential installation takes one to two days, depending on system size and complexity.
Here's what happens on the day:
- The team installs the panel mounting rails and racking system on your roof, ensuring a weathertight, structurally sound attachment.
- Solar panels are mounted and interconnected.
- DC cabling is routed from the roof to the inverter location — typically in the garage, utility room, or at the distribution board.
- The inverter and battery are mounted on the wall and connected.
- AC wiring is completed, connecting the inverter to your distribution board and establishing the essential loads circuit.
- All connections are inspected, torqued to specification, and tested.
Our team works cleanly and professionally. All cabling is neatly trunked and routed out of sight where possible, and the site is left clean and tidy at the end of each day.
Step 5: Commissioning and Handover
Once installation is complete, the system goes through a full commissioning process. The inverter is configured for your specific setup — grid settings, battery charge and discharge parameters, and any time-of-use scheduling you'd like to apply. We verify that solar generation, battery charging, and grid interaction are all functioning correctly.
Before we leave, we walk you through the system in person. We show you how to read the inverter display, how to use the monitoring app on your smartphone, what the different indicator lights mean, and what to do (and not do) in the unlikely event of a fault alert. You'll leave the handover feeling confident and informed, not confused.
Your electrical Certificate of Compliance is issued at this stage, and we submit the SSEG completion documentation to your municipality if applicable.
Step 6: Aftercare, Monitoring, and Support
Our relationship doesn't end when the system switches on. All our installations come with a workmanship warranty, and the equipment is backed by manufacturer warranties — typically 10 years on panels, 5–10 years on inverters, and 5–10 years on batteries depending on the brand.
Modern inverters provide real-time monitoring via cloud-connected apps. You can see exactly how much solar energy you're generating, how much battery charge you have, and how much grid power you're consuming — all from your phone. If a system fault is detected, many inverters will alert you automatically.
